Ayaan's story is both amazing and sad. A real eye-opener to what life is like in other cultures. What I love about her book is that is it real, and leaves nothing to the imagination as she tells her story as it was. Her relationship with her mother and grandmother, her sister and brother, you could just feel the way it transformed throughout her youth as she became a young woman growing up in different parts of Africa and experiencing first hand the tales her grandmother once told her.
